Mary Beth is the amazing one-woman show running CaribbeanSEA. She is constantly on the move getting projects rolling, sometimes in St. Lucia, Dominica, or more recently, the Dominican Republic, Belize, and Haiti.

Caribbean Programs Director

Nadia Cazaubon is our Caribbean Based Programs Director. She loves nature especially the sea. She enjoys watching children get excited when they discover and experience nature at its best be it snorkelling or hiking. She believes it is when they share that joy that they make the connection and fall in love with nature too.

Julie Novak

Program Director

Julie Novak is a graduate of Auburn University (BS) and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (M.A. Ed). She worked as an Agricultural Extension Agent for 10 years coordinating the 4-H Program and then started her own handmade, children’s clothing business.

Julie loves spending time now with her husband and 2 kids, gardening, hiking and staying active in the Chattanooga and Signal Mountain communities.

Jessica Hampton

Store Manager, The Gear Closet

Jessica Hampton has worked in the publishing industry, been a web and graphic designer, has run her own screen printing studio, and has recently joined our team as the store manager of The Gear Closet.

She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, hiking (only getting lost when she’s mushroom hunting with Julie), running (with a 365 day streak as of December 31, 2017), gardening and yoga to balance it all.

Sara Neumann

Sara Neumann

Watershed Outreach Specialist

Sara Neumann is a graduate of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she earned a BS in environmental science with a concentration in biology. After graduation, she worked across the country in places like Alaska, California, and Alabama doing experiential outdoor education with kids in grades K-12. Currently, she is a substitute teacher for Ivy Academy and our Watershed Outreach Specialist.

Sara loves spending time rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, biking, running, and practicing acroyoga. When she isn’t being active outside (which is almost never), she also enjoys cooking, playing board games, and reading a good book.

Randy does whatever needs doing. He is our GIS guru, our technical support, and a strong arm when we need it. We are lucky to have him here to help us and he is lucky that we continue to laugh at his jokes.

Randy can be found most days working at North River Geographic Systems, where he maps stuff. Or something.

Berry Shults

Berry Shults

From Ivy Academy to Signal Mountain to the Challenger Center, Berry Shults knows how to reach kids through Science. Get them outside and it’s even better!

Berry is assisting with our Belize project as well as other Kids 4 Clean Water programs.

Extraordinary Educator and Teacher Trainer

Jim is a veteran science teacher with years of classroom and professional development experience. He has taken 2000 kids on field experience all over the country and is now in his eighth year of running the Sapelo workshop for teachers.

Jim does not mind getting his feet wet in the name of science.

Scientist and Educator, Head Bug Catcher

Six years ago, we found Brendan in the rain forest in Dominica thanks to Nancy Osler of the Archbold Tropical Research and Education Center and he has worked in our camps and education programs ever since.

Brendan is working on his Master’s in Entomology from the University of Illinois.

Watershed Program Coordinator

Skye is a chemist and masters student in environmental science serving as our Watershed Program Coordinator. She leads our community based water testing and Stream Teams, and she is creating our new Mountain Creek/ Stringers Branch watershed alliance.

Videographer

Graham is a student at Chattanooga School for the Creative Arts where she is a Theater major. She’s grown up outdoors...paddling, camping, hiking yet is just as comfortable on the stage, This multi-talented young lady has joined us as our videographer.
